Priority Freight, has achieved the latest OH&S ISO 45001:2018 certification

Leading time-critical logistics specialist, Priority Freight, has achieved the latest ISO 45001:2018 certification, which focuses on occupational health and safety (OH&S) management systems in the workplace.

ISO 45001:2018 confirms an organisation’s ability to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving occupational health and safety performance. Each of Priority Freight’s UK sites – in Dover, Coventry and London Heathrow – were assessed on their health and safety performance and passed rigorous inspections.

“We’re proud to be one of the first companies in our field to achieve ISO 45001:2018,” said Jon Slaughter, Group Compliance Manager at Priority Freight. “This is a great standard for any business to work to, to help prevent and reduce risk whilst also improving staff wellbeing, which is what we strive for at Priority Freight. The safety of our staff, our sites and our visitors are of paramount importance to us. We were already meeting majority of the requirements of ISO 45001:2018, organically, through the great work of our health and safety committee. By supplementing our current management system, we were able to gain the certification.

“Being ISO certified makes us accountable, demonstrates our capabilities and provides us with an opportunity for continued improvement. Gaining ISO 45001:2018 complements our existing ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management and ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management. We believe this makes Priority Freight unique in meeting these globally recognised standards.”

Key areas that are assessed by the ISO 45001:2018 certification include:

  • Management systems in place
  • Planning and risk assessment
  • Staff training and awareness
  • Communication of safety management systems
  • Response to emergency situations
  • Monitoring and continual improvement
  • Worker involvement
