Atlas Logistics’ London Airfreight team were recently tasked with managing a complex export consignment. The consignment consisted of Lithium Metal Batteries, classified as Cargo Aircraft Only (CAO), Dangerous Goods, and were combined with Class 1 Explosives Dangerous Goods. Movement complexity was compounded by limited aircraft options to final destination. So those within the industry know all too well the challenges of finding a Cargo Aircraft Only solution that were not only able to fly to destination but also carry Class 1 explosives.
Atlas Logistics UK Ltd encountered setbacks with several airlines that initially confirmed their ability to transport Class 1 goods, and provide rates, but later informed Atlas they could not accept Class 1 Dangerous Goods.
Wishing to support their long standing and valued customer, through sheer determination and resolve, the London Heathrow (LHR) Airfreight team persevered. Advising the customer to split out both products, batteries as CAO Dangerous Goods to depart the UK on one carrier and reclassifying the Class 1 DG as OK Passenger Aircraft. This move significantly expanded the available transport options. They successfully coordinated with the carrying airline, confirming their ability to accept Class 1 Dangerous goods.
The two shipments were swiftly collected from Scotland, delivered to LHR the following day, showing Atlas Logistics UK commitment to overcoming logistical challenges, ensuring safe and timely delivery.
Earlier, Atlas Logistics UK Ltd were asked to assist with the exportation of an Aircraft Nose Cone. The Aircraft Nose Cone was urgently needed for an Aircraft on Ground (AOG) in Azerbaijan.
This time critical movement was handled by our London Heathrow Airfreight team, with speed and due diligence, ensuring the smooth transit from the UK shipper to its destination. The Aircraft Nose Cone was of immense size and required special handling, bypassing the usual loading hub of LHR, delivered directly into Stansted Airport (STN) as secure cargo, ready for loading onto a Boeing 747 freighter aircraft.

Atlas Logistics UK Ltd announced the opening of our Manchester Office from 1st July 2024.
This marks a significant step in the development of the company, with Connor Rimmer as Branch Manager.
The branch is a joint venture with Atlas Logistics’ Manchester eCommerce fulfilment warehouse partner where they facilitate a wide myriad of B2C solutions for clients such as Tik-Tok shop.
The partnership enables Atlas to use their customs experience, BIRDS low value imports and network of overseas partners in conjunction with bespoke warehousing to jointly grow their eCommerce strengths including onsite reverse logistics. In addition to this Atlas has a badge to Manchester Airport where Connor and his team will be handling air import and export through this important UK gateway. Whilst the focus is eCommerce fulfilment solutions the full range of Atlas service will be on offer through this new facility.
