LEO GLOBAL LOGISTICS : Thai forwarder a leading force in E-COMMERCE

Newly industrialised Thailand continues to be a leading exporter within the ASEAN countries, accounting for around two thirds of GDP with a strong market in automotive, machinery and Telecom. This export drive is backed by robust infrastructure investment and the development of a strong business environment.

As an active leader in the country’s export sector, Leo Global Logistics Public Company Limited, founded in 1991 in Bangkok, today employs 260 specialists with three offices in Thailand and
one in Myanmar. Michael Sales has been talking to Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, founder and CEO about their position within the Thai export market and his views on future prospects.

Please describe briefly your company and its role in the export market?

“We are a total multimodal logistics operator covering the whole range of products from conventional shipments, through heavy-lift and e-commerce and we are considered to be the best in Thailand. As we just received The Prime Minister’s Export Award 2019 (PM Export Award) as The Best Service Enterprise for Logistics Service and also ELMA – Excellent Logistics Management Award 2019 under International Freight Forwarding category from Ministry of Commerce, Thai Government.We are an accredited and approved IATA licensed airfreight forwarder and can offer special buying rates with more than 30 direct stocks airway bill with various airlines. We can offer direct flights, flight in transit and airport to airport, small or large shipments and work with leading airlines. We are also qualified in dangerous goods handling and we have special facilities for perishables, a very important sector in Thailand”.

Concentrating on your air cargo business, what are your annual volumes and which are your main export commodities?

“Over the last few years we have been handling over 6400 tonnes annually with automotive and machinery equipment, electronics and electrical products leading the list, with life science and medical, perishables, cosmetics, garments, plastics and rubber products in the mix”.

What has been your latest and most notable development over the last few years?

“Seeing the trend for online trading and e-commerce, we have expanded our air cargo service within the ASEAN region by creating a platform for providing cross-border and last mile delivery for small parcel services for e-commerce business operators in China entitled Global Mail Solutions. This business is growing rapidly and we are already one of the leaders in this sector, which is a strong future development part of our business profile. This division is headed by Sona Malhotra Global Mail Solution Manager.”
