Spot rates reached USD 4.69 per kg and Asia-US volumes rose 17% year on year.
Asia-Pacific air cargo demand strengthened in the second week of September. Chargeable weight rose 4% week on week, while average spot rates increased 3% to USD 4.69 per kg. Volumes from Asia Pacific to the United States were 17% higher than a year earlier, supported by high-tech and semiconductor traffic.
Global average rates also rose 2% week on week, while capacity remained about 2% above the previous year. The figures point to a firmer start to the peak season but results still differ by region and trade lane. Network members should compare these indicators with the capacity, rates and customer demand visible in their own markets.
